The Waterfalls of Antalya
Antalya which is one of the favorite cities of Turkey and the World attracts attention with the waterfalls, too. The Waterfalls that are sourcing from the southern parts of Taurus Mountains and crossing the Antalya Plain reaching to the Mediterranean, is a part of the natural identity of the city. Antalya hosts the Manavgat, Kurşunlu and Düden Waterfalls among more than twenty waterfalls within the boundaries of the city.
Manavgat Waterfall is located on the Manavgat River that supports water to Selevkia and Side during the ancient times via Aqueducts falls over a 4 meters high cliff. Because of this reason it has a historical significance.
Kurşunlu Waterfall flows over 18 meters high and connects seven lakes to each other with small waterfalls. Kurşunlu Waterfall that is located inside a two kilometers wide canyon became a national park in year 1986 and prepared ready for visiting. Waterfall and picnic place contains of 33 hectares area.
Düden Waterfalls are separated into two waterfalls as upper Düden and Below Düden. Upper Düden is 10 kilometers far away from Antalya city center. There is a cave where this waterfall flows. The source of the Waterfall is Kırkgöz site. Upper Düden Waterfall flows over this cave into the Mediterranean. Below Düden is close to the Karpuzkaldıran Beach on the Antalya-Lara road. Düden Creek falls over a 40 meters high cliff into the Mediterranean and forms the Below Düden Waterfall.
