This was our second trip to the hotel and unfortunately we were left disappointed the second time We were given 2 separate rooms for our family of 5 so the family was split up. When we arrived at the room although it appeared clean the duvet looked to have a big stain under the cover - it looked like a large patch of blood The shower cubicle looked like the walls needed a clean and the hand towel rail was hanging off the wall One night I woke to the smell of burning and then the electric had cut off so we had no air con or lights The drinks seem to be rationed out for the mini bar with very little given. No coffee restocked and even when more water was requested as we have a 2 year old , it wasn’t acknowledged The food was absolutely gorgeous and no complaints with this at all! The service however was a different matter. We really struggled to get drinks as staff were stood on phones or just stood out of the way We did see people going to get drinks themselves but also staff telling them not too. I’m not sure if it’s self serve or you have to ask but I think it needs to be made more clearer for people The staff in the children’s area would drop things such as cutlery and leave them on the floor . Most nights there was food all over the floor and the staff just looked at it . One young girl slipped over on some spaghetti that had been spilt on the floor and left The communal toilets were a disgrace some days which I know is not the fault of the hotel but dirty, shameful guests Bar staff were just plain rude. No social interaction or even a smile. Mainly the bar near reception . Made me feel like I was being an inconvenience for asking for a drink Some of the staff were lovely but unfortunately there were only a couple of them. I wish I had got the name of one in particular to show recognition to as he was brilliant and very welcoming and interacting with the children. He was in the peoples bar on our last night and it’s just a shame the rest of the staff aren’t as welcoming One of the drivers for the land of legends buses was brilliant too. He was lovely and even made sure he set up all of the baby buggy’s when we arrived . He didn’t need to do this but it makes it so much easier when you are travelling with a child and we were very grateful of this . Again unfortunately we didn’t get his name to show some recognition too but we did appreciate it We are really disappointed with some of the stay and I do think there are issues that could be improved but I don’t think it warrants me publishing it publicly so I won’t do that. It’s just a shame that we spent so much money and waited all year and it wasn’t what we had imagined. It was our second stay there too so we didn’t expect a little better When speaking to people at land of legends who were in a different hotel , they were saying how lovely the staff were etc but unfortunately the majority of the staff at Rixos aren’t like that

We travelled as a family of 5 with 2 rooms. Nan and Grandad , daughter, 2 grandaugters. We loved the hotel and had the best holiday ever. No 2 days the same. Different pools to go to. Loved the peoples bar and the buggy to the kids club. Turquoise restaurant was amazing. Food was really good just sometimes difficult to find a table for us as a family of 5 . There are plenty of big tables but all taken. I suppose as school holidays it was extra busy. It was free for all I think maybe needs to be more organised.

I had a great experience, room, facilities, spa and sport activities were brilliant. The holiday was unfortunately disappointed by lost/ stolen laundry. And then lack of staff support in the resolution of the incident - we had to constantly call reception to find our items, each time we called a new person answered and I could see that no one was looking for it/ logged the incident, so we had to repeat and repeat ourselves again. Again, when we physically went to reception and received no clarity. Many hours later we received just a simple answer “we do not hold any responsibility” from the manager, which was concerning since the laundry bag disappeared. We left our contact details to be contacted by a more senior team members, but again! No contact. Unfortunately I am not sure I will choose Rixos again since the expectation from this level of hotel was that the team will deliver the simplest service (laundry) and if failed, will admit the mistake and discuss any remediation actions with guests.

The overall experience of Rixos environment and cleanliness in public spaces where very much up to last years standards. This year guest service, private spaces, communications and attentiveness wasn’t the strongest points. We aren’t a family who ask a lot and will certainly go without complaining as to not cause a fuss or make extra work. From the first evening we had noticed red stains showing through the blankets. However the beds were neat and tidy to a high standard! Room 2423 (my partners room) had a burning smell at night and no electricity all evening into the following afternoon. The showers in her room where I would say 2/10 for hygiene so they opted to shower in my room (2425). The next few nights we had random guests calling the room phone to ask for some water. And a few early calls over the course of the week to ask if there was a fire in the room or if it was too hot. I can only assume there is an electrical fault there. Day 5 our cleaner made the beds in 2423 and had put a sheet on that was marked with again red liquid. We did ask for this to be re made and she was very happy to do so. Working in the food industry as a respected chef I personally observed many customers helping themselves to drinks as the staff where talking and avoiding making eye contact as to not be asked anything of them. This made getting drinks difficult as when we attempted to make these ourselves we where asked to sit down and they shall bring them. The added feature this year for me was the use of WhatsApp, this seemed very useful and in theory was amazing! Sadly I don’t think the infrastructure is there for this! We made a few messages with no hearing back. With the inconvenience presented I asked if there would be any opportunity to upgrade to a family room (i was happy to pay the cost) or if not maybe some more tester bottles in the room would suffice. These words where heard and repeated back but nothing come of a response. I have spoken very very highly of Rixos to a number of friends, family and colleagues over the year and am rather inclined to update them of the new Rixos standards as to cover myself from their future experience. I am not going to make a public review as I believe these things can be isolated incidents and have no intentions of defecting the Rixos name. I will however remember Rixos by the first visit and choose not to return again next year as we wished to make this an annual visit. What made Rixos truly special to anyone was the quality of the rooms, quality of food. Attention to detail and repairs. To limit the negative changes we have experienced, we chosen to spend as much time as possible at the land of legends (your shuttle booking system will confirm this) the final topic was of the service staff in the children buffet room! Not only would they try not to make eye contact but they would spend time on there phone knowing people didn’t have drinks, eggs where being stepped on and food was a slip hazard to children. I observed a worker look at the hazards and not clean these, each time a child went up to grab food it was potential for injury. Children can be messy at the best of times but after 20 minutes of being 1 of 3 families in the room, I had enough and I had to leave. We truly love Rixos, being from hospitality myself I understand that honest guest feedback is important to retain and build guest relationships in order to create returning customers. I hope this message is taken professionally and I hope Rixos finds what makes them special was the fundamentals and how great they were at that! I do hope one day our paths will cross again. But I cannot justify those prices for that level of service. The price is fair! If the experience is positive. Please email me if you have any further questions.
